A Joy-Filled 10-Year Anniversary Celebration at St. Mary’s Church | Visalia, California
There are wedding days that are beautiful because of the details. And then there are wedding days that are beautiful because of the people. This celebration was both.
Danny and Amy celebrated ten years of marriage with a beautiful sacramental celebration at St. Mary’s Church in Visalia, California, followed by an incredible evening at Visalia Country Club Golf Course surrounded by family and friends.
From the emerald green details and black-tie style to the mariachi band, live singers, and their daughter’s original dance performance, this day was filled with so much personality and joy.
As their photographer, what I remember most is the way Danny & Amy looked at each other.
It Started With a Jeep
Their love story actually began with a little help from Danny’s sister, Ana. Amy & Ana became friends through soccer, and one day Ana mentioned that she had a single brother who happened to love mountain biking, snowboarding, managing a store, and had a Labrador—just like her.
Naturally, she checked him out on Facebook. Eventually, she decided she was ready to meet him. Ana invited her over while Danny was working on his Jeep with a friend. Wanting the encounter to feel completely casual, she grabbed her dog and “happened” to walk by the house. There was Danny—covered in grease, shoes untied, working on his Jeep. She walked up and asked, “Hi… is Ana home?” And the rest is history.
Their first date was a four-hour walk with their dogs, Chico and Coco. That was followed by mountain bike rides, more adventures, and eventually a first kiss under the stars at Kaweah Lake. Ten years later, they have built a life together filled with family, adventure, faith, and a beautiful daughter. And they still clearly love being together.
A Beautiful St. Mary’s Church Wedding
Their celebration at St. Mary’s Church in Visalia was elegant, meaningful, and deeply personal. The emerald green color palette was woven throughout the day, paired beautifully with classic black-tie attire. The cathedral provided a stunning backdrop for the ceremony, but it was the people inside those walls who made the day so meaningful.
There were quiet moments. Big emotions. Lots of laughter. And plenty of opportunities to photograph the people who have been part of their story. That is one of my favorite parts of being a wedding photographer. I’m not just watching for the big moments. I’m watching for the moments happening around them. The expression on a parent’s face. A child completely lost in the moment. A friend laughing at something happening just outside the frame. The way a couple looks at each other when they forget anyone else is watching. Those are the photographs that help tell the whole story.
An Evening of Music, Family & Celebration
After the ceremony, the celebration continued at Visalia Country Club Golf Course. It was a celebration in every sense of the word. A live mariachi band brought incredible energy to the evening, along with multiple talented live singers who kept the reception filled with music and emotion. The evening was colorful, joyful, and full of life. And then came one of the sweetest moments of the night; their daughter performed an original dance for her parents. Watching her perform for the two people she loves most was such a beautiful reminder of what these ten years have created.
When Danny and Amy first said “I do,” they couldn’t have known exactly what their future would hold. They didn’t know about the adventures, the difficult seasons, the loss of their fathers, or the daughter who would one day stand in front of them and perform at their ten-year celebration. That’s the beautiful thing about marriage. You don’t know all the chapters when you begin. You simply keep writing them together.
Ten Years Later, Still Choosing Each Other
What made this celebration so special wasn’t simply that Danny and Amy were celebrating ten years of marriage. It was that their happiness with each other was still so evident. After ten years, they still laughed together. They still looked at each other with joy. They still genuinely seemed excited to celebrate their life together. And that is the kind of love I want to photograph. Not just the perfect moments. The real ones. The beautiful ones. The ones that make you laugh years later. The ones that make you tear up. The ones that remind you exactly why you chose each other in the first place.
It was such an honor to document this beautiful Visalia, California wedding celebration and the ten years of love that led them to this day. Because the best wedding photographs aren’t just photographs of what happened. They’re photographs of how it felt to be there.
