Love Bug Wedding | Reedley, California

Derek and Cortney met in 2016 through a mutual friend while hanging out. After being friends for a while, they decided to go out on a date. He took her up to Fresno for an amazing dinner, then headed back to town to shoot some pool. Derek and Cortney both knew that night that there was something special about each other. After a year of being together Derek knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her. So, on Christmas day 2017, with the help of his son he proposed. And of course she said YES!

These two love birds are a whole lot of fun separately but even better together!! And the bridal party was icing on the cake on this near fall wedding.

There was a little drama the morning of…Derek was driving their get-a-way car, adorable teal VW bug, when he broke down all alone along the side of the road! Thank goodness for cell phones, help quickly came. But this incident made Cortney’s wedding gift to Derek all the more funny! 🙂 A sweet engraved, wooden watch set to the time of their ceremony; with a note saying “don’t be late” lol

Derek’s grandmother must have been a sweet lady!! Although she has already passed on, she carefully thought ahead for her future grandson’s brides. She left three of her beautiful rings as gifts to these future brides! And perfect for Cortney, her ring coordinated with her wedding colors! Cortney also got to wear her grandmothers pearls! Loved that special family member on both sides were incorporated into their special day.

Derek’s son, oh goodness, I thought him sweet! During Cortney & Derek special vows, this little sweetie let the tears flow! Just wanted to scoop him up and hug him. I enjoyed watching his excitement all day long.

While it wasn’t the dreamed teal VW Bug get-a-way car, it was still a fun, love bug ride! Cortney and Derek, thank you for letting me into your fun day. I pray that your marriage is one fun adventurous ride!
