Winter Wonderland Engagement | Giant Sequioas

I am been soooo excited to blog this amazing session!!! So a couple of weeks ago I had the privilege of going on an adventure with Juan & Melissa.  We had previously planned on going up the the Kings Canyon National Park for their fall time engagements all along the meadow of the Giant Sequoias.  From the weather reports looked like rain was inevitable. But we decided to brave the weather anyways and get their session done before the busyness of Christmas came upon us.

We started out on our journey at the base of the mountain to capture the beautiful sky next to the mountains. On the valley floor the puffy white clouds were nothing less than spectacular!! As we traveled up thru Three Rivers the skies opened up and dumped lots of rain creating a gorgeous double rainbow. You could actually see the rainbows end straight into the rocky mountains edge. This whole trip was an adventure. What surprises awaited us around each bend of the road. God’s beauty everywhere!!

When we got up to the park, the Ranger informed us the snow level drop significantly during the night and we wouldn’t be able to go very far up into the park without chains. I loved Melissa and Juan attitude! We decided to go as far as we could. And I am sooooo glad we did! What an amazing treat! The fresh snow dusting the trees looked like powder sugar. The more we kept driving, the more winter wonderland appeared! S-N-O-W so MUCH snow had fallen in a short amount of time, yet the beautiful fall colors were still on the trees creating this gorgeous mix of seasons.

We made it to the first batch of the giant Sequoias and decided this was the place for our session.  None of us were exactly dressed for this snow adventure but Juan and Melissa were troopers and braved the calm cold like pros! You can tell a lot about a couple when surprises come up…. when reality and expectations do not line up. Instead of worry or sadness, these two just had pure excitement in the change of plans!! Such a beautiful thing to witness in a relationship.

Melissa and Juan, you two are in for an amazing LIFE adventure in marriage. Around each bend there will be surprises awaiting you. But if you always have this solid friendship and adventurous spirit to tackle anything life gives you together, what amazing life story you two will have! Thank you so much for allowing me a small part into your love story. I loved it and can’t wait to witness your wedding!!
